A calm little device for your AI agents.
Your AI agents do real work on your computer. Pager Code lets you check on them, answer their questions and approve what they're about to do, from a small paper-like screen that lives in your pocket or on your desk. No feeds. No apps fighting for attention. Just your agents.
Approve from anywhere
An agent wants to send an email or change a file? It buzzes. You read exactly what it wants to do and tap Approve or Deny.
Every answer is signed
The device signs your decision with its own key, so your computer knows it really came from you, not from anyone else.
Your computer does the thinking
All the AI runs on your own Mac. The device just shows, listens and signs. Nothing about your work lives on it.
Paper-like and patient
An e-ink screen reads like a note in daylight and sips power, so the battery lasts for weeks.
Try the whole device
This is a working simulation of the device and the Mac it controls. Nothing connects to a real Mac; everything happens on this page.
- Make something happen (right side): an agent asks you, an agent asks the whole team, a teammate talks, a message arrives.
- Hold to Grant or deny: every answer is signed by the device, and kept in the record.
- Hold TALK (the orange button) or the space bar to talk to your agents or your team.
- Steer the Mac: switch between Snapshot (the screen picture), Structure (a tappable outline), Trackpad (one- and two-finger gestures, swipe between desktops) and Keyboard (your keys type on the Mac).
- Pick the screen: e-ink, fast e-ink, colour e-ink or OLED.
Mouse: drag = one finger · Shift-drag = two fingers · Shift-click = two-finger tap. On a phone or tablet, use your fingers. Open the demo full-screen.
How it works
Your agents run on your own computer, inside Pager Door, our Mac app.
When an agent needs you, Pager Door sends a short, encrypted page through our relay.
The device shows exactly what the agent wants to do, in plain words.
You tap. The device signs your answer with its own security chip and sends it back.
Your Mac checks the signature, then lets the agent continue, or stops it.
No phone number needed: it talks over Wi-Fi (and later cellular data). No face or fingerprint scanning either. Security comes from the device's own key, its pairing with your Mac, and signed answers.
Four ways to steer your Mac
Snapshot
A picture of the Mac's screen when you need to see it exactly, refreshed as things change. Pinch to zoom.
Structure
The buttons, text and lists on screen, drawn as a clean outline you can tap. Light, fast and perfect for e-ink, where video would be a blur.
Trackpad
The device becomes a trackpad: point, click, scroll with two fingers, swipe between desktops.
Keyboard & voice
Type straight into the Mac, or hold TALK and say it: "Open the pricing page", "What's the status of the build?"
Why it's different
There are remote-desktop apps, AI chat apps and approval gadgets. None of them is built for people and AI agents working together. Pager Code is.
Built for agents, not just screens
Your agents page you like a teammate would: with the exact action, the exact recipient, the exact file. You decide in one tap. Remote-desktop apps just show you pixels.
Proof of who said yes
Every Grant and Deny is signed by the device's own security chip and checked by your Mac before anything runs. Every decision is kept on record. A chat message saying "ok" proves nothing; a signed answer does.
Your team, in the loop
An agent can ask the whole team: "needs one approval, Maya and Sam got this page too". Whoever answers first decides, and everyone sees who approved.
The brain stays home
The AI runs on your own Mac. The relay in between only passes encrypted messages and holds no AI and no keys to your work. Lose the device and nothing about your work is on it.
Structure, not video
Reading the screen's structure instead of streaming video means it works on slow connections and on paper-like screens, and it taps the real button, not a guessed coordinate.
A calm device on purpose
No feeds, no apps, no notifications competing for you. E-ink reads like paper and lasts weeks. It's for decisions, not scrolling.
No phone number
It talks to your Mac over Wi-Fi (later cellular data). Nobody can call it, text it or sell its number. No face or fingerprint scanning: security comes from its own key and signed answers.
One device for everything you approve
Agent approvals, Mac control, voice and team messages, together. Other gadgets do one of these; Pager Code does all of them, end to end.
Which screen?
| Screen | Good at | Not so good at |
|---|---|---|
| E-ink, black & white | Paper-like, readable in sunlight, battery for weeks, calm | Slow page changes; not for live video |
| E-ink, colour | Same feel, with soft colour for status | Slower and dimmer than black & white |
| Reflective LCD | Paper-like and fast; low power | Lower contrast, muted colour |
| OLED | Fast, vivid, great for video and touch | Phone-like battery; glare outside; less calm |
Our leaning: e-ink for approvals and messages (that's most of what the device does), possibly with a faster screen in a later model for voice, video and heavier Mac control.
What's real today, and what's next
- Working today: the Pager Code iPhone and iPad app, Pager Door on the Mac, the encrypted relay, signed approvals, and viewing and controlling the Mac from the phone.
- Next: a first prototype on an off-the-shelf e-ink development board with a touch screen and Wi-Fi, in a 3D-printed case.
- Later: cellular data, voice, and a custom-made device.
